Everything Changes

The more messed up this world gets, the more God makes sense.

Subject: the place where I live burnt

I told you about David before. Today I received this email from him:
Hello Uncle Paul, How was Christmas? Hope for you it was so phenomenal. Well with me it wasn't good at all cause on Christmas Eve (24th) the house got burnt and I'm totally back to zero cause I remain with nothing, all my clothes, TV, radio, everything got burnt. I was cooking and I went outside to a shop which is about five or six hundred metres to get milk and beans. So while on my way back to the house I started hearing people calling me and trying to get in the house thinking I was inside at that time while the house was burning. So I hurried and came but really couldn't save or change anything as the fire had spread all over the house. Up to now I can't even know what was the cause of the fire but just think that may be there was a power/electricity shoot.

It's really a big blow and a major set-back for me. I really can't stop the tears that roll down my cheeks these days cause it's a big loss I made. Just pray for me Please.

Love David
I knew that you would want to pray too, that's why I'm telling you about David's situation. I replied to his email and asked if there was anything I could do to help. I will let you know what he says.

*UPDATE

I wrote to David asking him how I could help. He replied with:
Hello Uncle Paul, thank you for your quick reply. I'm really stranded, don't know what exactly to do at the moment. I don't know whether God is testing me to see how strong I am in spirit, it's really a big challenge in my life. I don't know how I'm going to cover the loss this caused.

At the moment I'm putting up (living) with a friend at his parent's house but I have to leave before his parents come back as they went to Kenya for a Christmas holiday and are coming back January 8th. I'm at the moment looking for a cheaper house to rent. I've so far been to three houses and the cheapest is $85USD (150,000 Ugandan Shillings) and have to pay at least three months in advance. I need to buy a mattress, blanket, mosquito net and other essential household items, like cups, plates, etc. As of now I'm only left with about $50, which can't even be used to pay for the one month house rent. Uncle Paul, can you believe/imagine I only remained with the clothes I had put on that day?

Uncle Paul, I really just don't know how I can even make a request to you for your help, but if there is any way possible you can help me out I do welcome it, please, cause I'm in real DILEMMA / state of confusion.
I went to the bank today to wire David $150USD. It is not much, considering that he lost everything, but hopefully it will help him begin reestablishing his life and home.

When I arrived at the bank there was a young man selling chocolate bars outside the bank. While he gave me his sales pitch I could tell by his accent that he was not from Canadian. So I asked him where he was from. He told me that he had moved to Canada from Sudan 4 years ago. Ironic. He was about the age of David when I first met him. I told the young man that I was going into the bank to help a friend in Uganda who had lost everything in a fire. I could tell he understood how important that was and expressed concern over David's loss.

Recently David applied to the Royal British Army. He hopes that he is accepted and that he will have an opportunity to better his life in the military. In the meantime he makes crafts and sells them to earn a living. He has also completed a course in Graphic Design.

Please pray for David when you think of him. He has been through much tougher situations in his life and he has a strong faith in God. Pray that God will order his steps and guard his heart and mind with peace.
