any story behind this pic?

Yes... I went to Brazil for six months in 2003 - worked with a developing assembly, assisting them with their worship teams. The experience was life changing and ended up being more for me than for the people I was serving. This picture is of Samuel and his mom, Elaine. Her husband, Nilson, became one of my best friends while I was in Brazil and he is now the pastor of the church.

how often i hear those words. (not about samuel and elaine and nilson) that our attempts to serve end up blessing the server more than the intended recipients of service. which ties in to a sermon i heard over the weekend about how the true aim in worshipping and serving god is not to approach him to "get". we should approach him to "give" and only then, when that is our heart, do we "get" from god.
