Originally I was only planning to be away from work for a week - to care for my father in the States while my sister, who is his primary care-giver, goes on HER holiday. But then I decided to seek out a Life Coach regarding some emotional fatigue and depression I have been experiencing. She suggested I take more time off - from everything. And so it begins.
In preparation for this journey of disconnectedness I purchased three used books from the local library for a whopping 75 cents. And this morning I began reading Snow by Calvin Miller. Which, in itself, is ironic, since part of my sadness was produced by a cold, snowy winter that lasted much too long. On page nine Calvin writes:
"Mary Withers dreaded December because the sun rose late and stayed so far away."
I have the sense that Mary's winter will end. And I trust that mine will too.
