2 Corinthians 9:1-12 (Amplified)
- sows generously that blessing may come to someone
- reaps generously and with blessing
Verse 7
- gives by making up his mind (and purposing) to do so
- does not give reluctantly or under compulsion
- is prompt to give
- his heart is in his giving
- is made self-sufficient by God’s ability to make favor and earthly blessing come to him
- possesses enough to require no aid or support
- is furnished in abundance for every good work and charitable donation
Verse 9
- gives to the poor
Verse 10
- gets his seed for sowing and bread for eating from God
- receives provision and resources for sowing from God (multiplied)
- the fruit of his righteousness is manifested in active goodness, kindness and charity
Verse 11
- is enriched in all things and in every way so he can be generous
- his generosity brings thanksgiving to God
Verse 12
- his “ministry” of generosity supplies what is lacking to God’s people
- God’s people declare thanksgiving to God because of his generosity (see v.13)
